Recovering a 40-Foot Wood Chipper in Spokane
Recently, FleetEasy was dispatched to assist with the recovery of a 40-foot wood chipper. The equipment needed to be safely lifted and moved, but the recovery site made things challenging.
After arriving on scene, the operator assessed the equipment and determined the safest approach for the recovery. A nose-dive hookup was performed, and the trailer was connected using the appropriate air lines and recovery equipment. The operator utilized the red and blue air lines along with three snatch blocks to safely position and lift the trailer.
Although the total lifting weight was approximately 15,000 pounds, the rocky ground conditions created an unexpected challenge. During the recovery process, the truck began sinking into the loose rocks, preventing the operation from continuing safely.
We needed backup – stat! The operator contacted dispatch for additional support. Another unit was sent to the location to help pull the tractor out of the difficult terrain. After the equipment was secured, all recovery gear was properly stored, paperwork was completed, and the call was cleared.
