During the job, Fairchild AFB security forces urgently asked the recovery team to move quickly due to an alarm activation at the gate. Despite the pressure, the operator maintained complete professionalism and focus. He commented that he remained calm and cool and did the job safely.
Using an I-frame chain and clutch on both the front and back chain pockets of the trailer, the operator was able to inch the unit back into alignment. First, he shifted the rear of the trailer sideways, then pulled the tractor forward onto solid ground.
The operator described the process: “I slid the rear of trailer over then pulled on the front getting the tractor back on solid ground about 5 feet. Then I pulled the rear over about 15 feet then he [the driver] was able to pull ahead and straighten out.”
Within a short window, the tractor-trailer was freed, positioned safely on stable terrain, and able to drive away under its own power. Paperwork was completed, gear was packed up, and the team cleared the scene without incident.
