Responding to the Call “The Box Truck Boogie Woogie”
That’s why, on July 24, 2025, when a 12-foot box truck flew off the roadway at Petrovitsky Road and 232nd Street in Maple Valley, we were called in to help the King County Sheriff’s Officers with this incident. We were dispatched to the scene to haul the truck back up!
The hill on this road is extremely steep. Pro-Tow’s owner, Keith, was involved in the dispatch and emphasized how dangerously steep the hill was. “This hill is dangerously steep and would require extra wheel chocking and the winch brake being set before getting out of the truck,” he advised.
When our team arrived on the scene, we spoke with the officers already there and with the customer to ensure they were safe. Then, we could carry on with this heavy-duty recovery in Maple Valley.
Pro-Tow by FleetEasy Gets to Work
The first step in any accident recovery like this is creating a game plan. Once we had authorization, our knowledgeable team crawled down the embankment for a better look. The truck had smashed into a tree, so first we had to make sure everything was safe for our team to proceed.
We used rim slings on all four wheels, with additional 16-foot red straps on the driver’s side, which were leaning towards the bottom of the embankment. Thankfully, the tree that the truck hit was preventing the front end from rolling down further. Then, we attached different-length straps to the front and back rim slings on the passenger side. This way, we could pull it up by alternating between the straps until the truck reached the top of the embankment.
Once it was up, we used the boom to raise and rotate the vehicle so it was lined up with our rotator. Once the truck was recovered, we cleaned the site and made sure the roadway was restored and safe before clearing the call.
What Are Rim Slings?
In this report, we mentioned rim slings, and they’re an important tool used in vehicle recovery. Rim slings are a special towing sling that is strung through the holes of a truck tire rim. We feed one end of the sling into a rim hole, from the outside in, and run it back through another hole, from the inside out. This makes a basket with the sling so it evenly grips the wheel. You can then connect straps to the rim slings, either directly to a winch or using a screw pin shackle (which we did in this heavy-duty recovery).

In the end, we were able to get this vehicle back on the road without causing further damage. Then our team was able to clear the roadway of debris and make it safe again for traffic to proceed before returning to our home base!
